Carmel gets back on winning track against LFA

Carmel Catholic's girls basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak by topping visiting Lake Forest Academy 44-37 on Thursday in nonconference play.

Sophomore Shai Horton led the Corsairs with 11 points, and Ava Speer and Jen Giesey both finished with 8.

Carmel improved to 12-8.

Lake Forest 55, Mundelein 40: The host Scouts had a 28-19 rebounding advantage and forced the Mustangs into 21 turnovers (14 of which came as the result of steals) in North Suburban Conference play.

Maeve Summerville had 16 points to lead Lake Forest (15-5, 6-2) in scoring, and Halle Douglass (14) and Delaney Williams (12) also scored in double figures.

The loss drops Mundelein to 6-13 overall and 2-6 in the NSC. Kendall Wald had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Mustangs.
