St. Charles North tops Schaumburg

Leading 15-11 at half, St. Charles North pulled away to a 31-21 lead after three quarters en route to a 40-31 nonconference triumph at Schaumburg on Monday night.

The Saxons, who had won four straight until falling to four-time defending Mid-Suburban League champion Fremd four days earlier, now stand at 6-7.

Senior Maya Bowens led the Saxons with 10 points and classmate Laura O'Connell added 7 with 5 rebounds.

Senior Regina D'Orazio chipped in 6 points with 4 rebounds while senior Mallory Gerber grabbed 4 rebounds with her 4 points.

Schaumburg resumes action next Monday when it faces No. 8 seed Downers Grove North at 6 p.m. in the first round of the 16-team Wheaton North tourney.
