Maine West wins tenth game; Gerber gets 23 for Schaumburg

Maine West, whose girls basketball program is full of history, played its first conference game in history against Vernon Hills on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars entered the Central Suburban North this school year.

The Warriors were able enter into double digits wins with a 53-32 win at Vernon Hills.

Junior Alisa Fallon scored a game-high 16 points followed by sophomore Rachel Kent (10), freshman Angela Dugalic (9) and junior Jessica Riedl (8) as West improved to 10-1 and 3-0 in the CSL North.

Fallon had a pair of 3-pointers for West while Jocelyn Jacob had one. Kent had 8 rebounds for West while had 5.

Schaumburg 58, South Elgin 34: Host Schaumburg improved to .500 for the season as Mallory Gerber produced her fifth game with 20 or more points.

The senior forward netted a game-high 23 points while classmate Laura O'Connell enjoyed her sixth straight double-figure scoring game with 13 points.

Kayla Patterson added 9 points for the Saxons who are 5-5 overall.

Gerber had two 3-pointer and teammate Talia Torosian had one.

Bartlett 47, Elk Grove 41: Rachel Kandefer (13 points) and Zoe Blomquist (10) were top scorers for visiting Elk Grove (2-9)

in the nonconference game.
