St. Charles East, St. Edward notch wins

Sara Rosenfeldt scored 16 points and Marissa Urso added 12 on Thursday to lead the St. Charles East girls basketball team to a 63-27 Upstate Eight River win over Elgin.

Samantha Munroe added 9 points for the Saints (8-2, 2-0).

Ali Reynolds had 8 points and Kamiya Harvey added 7 for Elgin.

St. Edward 60, Chicago Christian 45: Maddie Spagnola had 26 points as St. Edward won in the Metro Suburban Conference. Madison Knott and Mariel Franco added 11 points each for the Green Wave.

Elgin Academy 37, Lakeshore Christian 16: In nonconference action, Madeline Sporina had 17 points, 16 rebounds and 7 steals to lead the Hilltoppers to the win. Kaila Higa (6 points, 8 steals), Lauren Yost (6 points) and Renee Scimeca (6 points, 3 steals) also contributed for Elgin Academy.

Aurora Christian 51, Westminster Christian 26: Aurora Christian (6-3, 3-0) was led in scoring by Tori Henning with 20 points in this Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Paris Chaney added 14 points for the Eagles while Emily Lamp had 8 points and 9 rebounds for Westminster.
