Week 2: Fremd's Tworek earns MVP honor
Fremd senior Grace Tworek has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent high school girls basketball performances.
Grace Tworek, Fremd: The senior forward/guard collected a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds when Fremd handed Glenbrook South its first loss (59-44) at the Chicagoland Invitational Showcase. Tworek also scored 15 points with 10 rebounds and 8 blocked shots in a 52-33 MSL West win over Palatine.
Mia Lakstigala, Naperville Central: The 5-foot-11 junior helped her team take the lead in the DuPage Valley Conference standings with 2 wins. Against Glenbard North, Lakstigala scored 11 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. She followed that with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists against Neuqua Valley.
Sidney Lovitsch, Grayslake North: The Knights are rolling, and their four-year varsity starter has been leading the way. Her week included a season-high 24 points in a 66-32 win over Lake Forest Academy. In three games (all wins), the Saint Xavier-bound guard averaged 20 points.
Sara Rosenfeldt, St. Charles East: Nobody has a motor like this 6-foot junior forward, and she was relentless in leading the Saints to a 3-0 week. After scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds against Bartlett, Rosenfeldt tallied 23 in a 53-43 win over West Aurora. She saved her best for last, totaling 26 points and 13 rebounds as St. Charles East topped its rival St. Charles North, 58-53.
