Burlington Central wins 52nd straight conference game

Kathryn Schmidt scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds Tuesday night to lead the Burlington Central girls basketball team to a 33-22 win over Richmond-Burton in the Kishwaukee River Conference opener.

The win is the 52nd straight in conference play for Central.

Zoe Kolhoff added 8 points for BC (4-1, 1-0).

Geneva 66, Streamwood 45: In the Upstate Eight River opener, Margaret Whitley had 22 points to lead Geneva (5-0). Madison Mallory had 11 points for the Vikings while Madeline Yelle added 10 and Grace Loberg 8. Jenejah Williams and Maddie Exline had 12 points each for Streamwood.

St. Edward 55, Timothy Christian 33: Maddie Spagnola hit for 30 points to help the Green Wave (3-3) to this nonconference win. Yssa Sto. Domingo added 10 points and Katie Castoro had 9 for the winners.

Cary-Grove 52, CL Central 37: Katie Sowa had 21 points and Maddie Gorz 15 to lead the Trojans (3-4, 2-0) to a Fox Valley Conference win.

Yorkville 46, West Aurora 39: Dajour Miles had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals while Kayla Battle added 8 points and 18 rebounds for West Aurora in this nonconference loss. Also contributing for the Blackhawks were Skylar Doby (5 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists,, 5 steals) and Essence Rayford with 8 points. 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

Schaumburg Christian 37, Elgin Academy 29: In nonconference action, Michelle Peyton (8 points), Madeline Sporina (5 points, 7 rebounds) and Kalia Higa (4 points, 6 steals) led Elgin Academy.
