Outlook: The Knights not only graduated five players but also unexpectedly lost one of the more exciting players in the county, as point guard Brandi Thibeaux transferred in the summer. The junior was a two-year varsity player for the Knights and played with them part of the summer. It's next player up, though, and coach Rob Nicoletti is confident his team can have another successful season. "We really like the group that we have," Nicoletti said. "The girls played really hard this summer. They've come together quickly. We got a lot of good pieces. We're just trying to compete and improve every day." Back is four-year varsity player Sidney Lovitsch, who just signed with NAIA Saint Xavier University. A two-time all-area selection, Lovitsch averaged 14.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game as a junior. "(Saint Xavier) is a great fit for her," Nicoletti said. "She's excited, and we're excited for her." Knights sophomore guard Savannah Guenther got called up in the middle of last season and played well enough to earn a permanent varsity spot. Her sister Abbey is a 5-11 junior post who also will start this season. Lovitsch and 5-10 senior Abby Fish provide skill and veteran leadership. Savannah Guenther and Lovitsch will see action at point guard. "We're excited," Nicoletti said. "They're a very cohesive group, they like being around each other, and as coaches we like showing up to practice every day."
