Fremd gets 20th win at Horseshoe

Fremd's boys basketball team got its 20th win of the season on Saturday in the final game of the inaugural Camp Horseshoe Shootout at Lake Zurich High School.

Senior Patrick Benka (12 points) and classmate Payton Kim (10) each reached double figures for the Vikings (20-6), who converted six 3-pointers in a 55-40 triumph over Lyons Township.

Kim and sophomore Ryan Martin each had two from long range while juniors Shaan Patel and Kyle Sliwa had one apiece.

“We had some foul trouble and I thought Shean Patel came off the bench and played a nice game for us,” said Fremd coach Bob Widlowski. “Overall, we played a complete game and shared the basketball.”

Junior Brian Dompke added 9 points for Fremd, followed by Martin (8), junior Luke Schoffstall (7) and junior Kyle Sliwa (6).
