Neuqua Valley's Moon earns Daily Herald MVP honor

Neuqua Valley senior guard Kai Moon has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent high school girls basketball efforts.

Kai Moon, Neuqua Valley: The senior guard, a Binghamton University recruit, reached the 1,000-point milestone for the Neuqua Valley varsity - in the same game as teammate Myia Starks - in a victory against Wheaton North in which she had 21 points, 6 steals and 4 rebounds. She followed that with 19 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 4 rebounds in a win at Lake Park as the Wildcats remained just a game out of first place in the DuPage Valley Conference.

Megan Talbot, Barrington: The 6-foot-2 senior forward, an Illinois State recruit, helped lead the Fillies to back-to-back wins. She collected 16 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocked shots in a over 46-39 victory over Hoffman Estates and had 15 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocked shots in a 48-43 triumph over South Elgin.

Corrina Vaughan, Wauconda: The Bulldogs will finish with their first winning season in five years, and the senior point guard is a big reason why. She scored a season-high 21 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 3 steals in a 62-45 win over Vernon Hills. She followed up with 5 points, 4 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks, as the Bulldogs topped Mundelein 47-34.

Maddie Versluys, Westminster Christian: With her 21 points against Ottawa Marquette this past Saturday, this Westminster Christian senior guard/forward joined an elite group of players to eclipse 2,000 points for her four-year varsity career. She is the all-time leading scorer at her school and holds myriad scoring records for the Warriors' program.
