St. Edward will take on Bishop Mac for 2A regional title

Junior Maddie Spagnola lit up the scoreboard for 30 points Tuesday night to lead the St. Edward girls basketball team to a 62-49 win over Reed-Custer in the semifinals of the Class 2A Wilmington regional.

Katie Castoro added 17 points and Yssa Sto. Domingo had 10 for the Green Wave (16-10). St. Edward will take on Bishop McNamara Thursday for the regional championship. McNamara defeated Lisle 60-48 in Tuesday's second semifinal.

Harvest Christian 59, Christian Liberty 20: Sophomore Alyssa Iverson scored 24 points to lead the Lions (21-7) to this semifinal win at the Class 1A Westminster Christian regional. Paulina Castro added 14 points and Katie Kaldenberger had 12 for Harvest, which will play host Westminster on Thursday for the regional title.

Westminster Christian 55, Schaumburg Christian 25: Maddie Versluys had 25 points, 9 rebounds and 7 steals as the Warriors (12-16) advanced to play Harvest Christian in the Class 1A regional final Thursday at Westminster. Elise Van Noord added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Westminster, while Emily Lamp had 9 points and Hannah Haecker pulled down 10 rebounds.

Burlington Central 63, Richmond-Burton 29: Burlington Central wrapped up its fourth straight undefeated Big Northern East championship behind 16 points each from Sam Pryor and Shelby Holt. Becca Gerke added 14 for the Rockets (22-4, 14-0), who leave the Big Northern Conference after this year with a 52-game league winning streak. Pryor's output put her at 1,402 career points.

Cary-Grove 49, Woodstock North 38: In a Fox Valley Conference crossover, Katie Sowa (16 points), Olivia Miller (14) and Jen Pilut (10) led the Trojans (11-16) to the win, their seventh in the last eight games.

CL South 38, Prairie Ridge 37: In another FVC crossover, Chanel Fanter had 15 points and Taylor Josefowicz added 13 to lead Crystal Lake South (21-9) to the win.
