Murphy's monster game lifts Rolling Meadows in 2 OTs

Jared Murphy scored a career-high 32 points to help Rolling Meadows' boys basketball team pull out a 77-75 double-OT victory over visiting Maine East on Saturday in nonconference play.

Murphy, a junior forward, finished 12-for-16 at the foul line to help the Mustangs salvage a split of their weekend games. He made both his foul shots in the second overtime and scored all 5 of Rolling Meadows' point in the first OT.

Jack Schoessling scored 17 points for the Mustangs (6-15), and John Lothery finished with 13 points, including three 3s.

Milan Glover led Maine East with 23 points and Ashoor Doushow had 21.

St. Viator 45, Elk Grove 41: The visiting Lions won for the fourth straight time, improving to 16-4 overall with a nonconference victory over the host Grens.

Elk Grove dropped to 14-9 and saw a three-game win streak snapped.

Danny Walsh led the way for the Lions with 13 points, while Kyle Hammarlund had 8 and Miles McDonnell and Kevin Murphy had 7.

McDonnell scored all his points in the first half, after which the Lions led 29-13.

Elk Grove had a much better second half defensively, limiting St. Viator to 6 second-half field goals.

Bradley Hubly scored a game-high 22 points, including 17 in the second half, and Joe Gatziolis had 8 for Elk Grove.

St. Viator made 4 of 5 foul shots down the stretch to help weather a 19-point fourth quarter by Elk Grove.

Conant 60, Glenbrook North 45: Mike Downing led the visiting Cougars with 17 points as a nonconference victory made it a two-win weekend for Conant (17-5).

Ryan Davis contributed 14 points and Danny Ranallo and Jimmy Sotos both had 11 to help Conant win its third straight.

Glenbrook North fell to 13-9.

Christian Liberty 64, IMSA 37: Jessie Castro drained three 3s and finished with a game-high 17 points to help the host Chargers win in Northeastern Athletic Conference play.

Christian Liberty limited IMSA to 7 first-half points and improved to 5-17 overall and 4-5 in the NAC.
