Jewell leads fast-starting Lakes past Cary-Grove

The Lakes boys basketball team earned a 53-47 victory over Cary-Grove on Monday in nonconference play.

The Eagles (10-9) outscored the Trojans 12-5 in the first quarter and 16-11 in the second to grab a 28-16 lead by the half.

Senior forward Colton Jewell led Lakes in scoring with 20 points and also had 11 rebounds, giving him his second double-double in the last three games.

Senior Jordan Mercure scored 10 points and had 3 steals, and sophomore guard Michael Behrendt contributed 8 points for the Eagles.
