Buffalo Grove's Stejskal earns Daily Herald MVP honors
Buffalo Grove senior guard Sammy Stejskal has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent girls basketball performances.
Sammy Stejskal, Buffalo Grove: It was quite a weekend at the MLK tourney at Lake Forest for the 5-foot-10 senior guard. She had a pair of career-high games 31-point games (vs. Lake Forest and Deerfield). Stejskal tied the school record for points in a half when she scored 25 in the final two quarters of a 79-40 win over Deerfield.
Ellie Haviland, Lakes: The Eagles showed in a 61-58 upset of Antioch at Lake Forest that their recent hot streak was no fluke. The senior guard has been leading the way for the 13-game winners. She poured in a season-high 24 points in a 60-59 victory over Deerfield at Lake Forest, before adding 15 against Antioch.
Grace Loberg, Geneva: Headed to Wisconsin to play volleyball, this 6-foot-2 junior continues to show she's quite a talent on the basketball court as well. Loberg had 20 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in a 57-40 win over St. Charles North. She added 10 points and 8 rebounds helping the Vikings beat Prospect 70-48 at the 26th annual Subway Chicagoland Girls Prep Basketball Classic.
Jen Warfield, Lake Park: The senior forward helped the Lancers to two important DuPage Valley Conference victories. She poured in 22 points against Metea Valley, picking up 6 rebounds, 5 blocks and 3 steals. Against Waubonsie Valley she scored 11 points with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks.
