Jewell's gem helps Lakes past Round Lake

Colton Jewell scored 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting, and Lakes' boys basketball team defeated host Round Lake 54-39 in North Suburban Prairie Division action Friday night.

Michael Behrendt added 11 points for Lakes (8-8, 3-3), which won its second game this week.

Round Lake fell to 3-13 and 0-6.

Washington 66, Grayslake North 34: Playing the ninth-ranked team in the AP Class 3A state poll, the visiting Knights fell behind 28-5 after one quarter in the Martin Luther King Jr. tournament game and never recovered.

Grayslake North fell to 12-2 with its second loss in a row.
