Hinsdale South senior guard Sydney Kopp has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent high school girls basketball performances.

Sydney Kopp, Hinsdale South: The sharpshooting senior guard helped the Hornets to two West Suburban Conference Gold Division victories last week. She had 26 points plus 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals against Willowbrook. Kopp added 33 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals to defeat Downers Grove South.

Ashley Richardson, Stevenson: Down 12 points in the third quarter against Zion-Benton, Stevenson was a longshot to extend its winning streak. Then the Patriots' three-year varsity point guard started making long shots. Richardson sank four 3-pointers (five for the game) to spark a rally that resulted in a 59-53 win, the Patriots' eighth straight. The junior finished with a career-high 28 points.

Georgette Topalis, Buffalo Grove: The 5-foot-7 junior guard made a steal and converted it for the winning layup in the final seconds in BG's 55-52 win over previously undefeated Hersey in a key MSL East matchup. Topalis also had two big 3-pointers along with 4 rebounds, 4 steals and she was 4-of-5 from the floor.
