Batavia's Frazier earns Week 1 MVP recognition

Batavia senior guard Hannah Frazier has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent girls basketball performances.

Hannah Frazier, Batavia: The St. Louis-bound senior started her season averaging 23 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals a game while shooting 60 percent from the field as Batavia went 4-1 at the Trinity Thanksgiving tournament. Frazier highlighted her five games with 33 points and 12 rebounds in an upset win over Trinity.

Bryana Hopkins, Fremd: The 6-foot-2 senior forward helped lead the Vikes to the championship of the Turkey Thriller, averaging 14.8 points in the five tourney wins. The Northwestern recruit scored a career-high 24 points in the championship game, a 65-37 victory over Johnsburg and had 17 vs. Rolling Meadows the game before.

Lauren Lee, Glenbard North: The sophomore helped the Panthers win the Rachel Bach Tournament championship at Glenbard East and was named to the all-tournament team. She had 8 points and 15 rebounds against Glenbard East, then added 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists in an upset of Geneva. The week before the tournament she averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4.5 steals in two nonconference wins.

Ashley Reiser, Antioch: The Sequoits' 7-0 start has included near-perfect play from their junior point guard, who's averaging 15.6 points per game. She was named MVP of the Niles North tournament, pouring in 24 points against Resurrection. In a win over Vernon Hills this week, she had 12 points (four 3-pointers) and 13 assists (1 turnover).
