Hampshire, West Aurora pick up 1st wins for new coaches

Hampshire's boys basketball team picked up new coach Ben Whitehouse's first win Saturday, knocking off District 300 sister school Dundee-Crown 65-39 at the Strombom Tournament in Sycamore.

Luke Tuttle led the way for the Whip-Purs (1-3) with 17 points. Deion Garcia added 11 points as all 11 Hampshire players who saw action scored.

Russell Bergeron scored 10 points to lead Dundee-Crown (0-4).

West Aurora 78, South Shore 53: After losing their first two games at the Rock Island tournament, the Blackhawks came back Saturday night with this win, the first at West Aurora for new coach Brian Johnson. Camron Donatlan led the way with 23 points, while DaQuan Cross had 16, DaVion Cross 16 and Benjamin Young 10. Earlier in the day, West Aurora fell to Bogan 70-45. Donatlan led the Blackhawks (1-2) in that loss with 13 points.

Deerfield 66, Jacobs 62: Leading 48-45 after 3 quarters Jacobs couldn't close things out and fell for the first time this season on the final day of the Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Tournament at Palatine. Cameron Krutwig had 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles (3-1) while Ryan Phillips added 17.

Brother Rice 55, Streamwood 44: Jaleel Jenkins had 11 points and Brendon Marton added 9 for Streamwood (0-4) in this loss at the Wheaton Academy tournament.

Harvard 49, Harvest Christian 40: Brett Cramer (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Mark Davila (13 points) led Harvest Christian (0-4) at the Westminster Christian tournament.

Huntley 60, CL Central 42: On the final day of the Crystal Lake Central tournament, the Red Raiders (2-2) got 12 points from Jadrian Flores, 9 from Makomborero Tizora and 8 each from Matthew Seng and Olalere Oladipo to defeated the host Tigers. Flores was named to the all-tournament team.

Marmion 52, Grayslake Central 48: Matthew Fletcher scored 15 points, Hunter Weber had 12 and Michael Sullivan added 11 for Marmion (3-1) at the Buffalo Grove tournament.

Batavia 59, Chicago Marine Academy 44: Canaan Coffey scored 15 points helping the Bulldogs (2-2) win their second straight game at their own Ken Peddy Windmill Classic. Wheaton Warrenville South took the tourney crown.
