Bens' free throws help Lake Zurich past Grant
Lake Zurich's boys basketball team needed overtime to knock off the host school in the Grant Thanksgiving tournament and remain undefeated Wednesday night.
Junior guard Michael Bens hit 2 free throws with 4.4 seconds left to lift the Bears to a 61-60 victory. Nick Penny and Nick Meyer led the way for Lake Zurich (3-0). Penny had 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Meyer poured in 22 points, including six 3-pointers, and grabbed 7 rebounds.
"Coach (Wayne) Bosworth and his players were well prepared and executed to a T," Lake Zurich coach Billy Pitcher said.
Grant fell to 1-2 in its tournament.
