Jacobs opens season with a win

Jacobs 62, Rolling Meadows 53: At the Ed Molitor Tournament in Palatine, Jacobs (1-0) won in its season debut over the Mustangs with junior Cameron Krutwig's fingerprints all over it. Krutwig poured in 26 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks, including 11 in the third quarter while sophomore Ryan Phillips knocked in three 3-pointers en route to 14 points and 6 rebounds. Tim Randall also added 10 points.

CL South 65, Wauconda 39: At the Richmond-Burton Tournament, the Gators improved to 2-0 with a blowout win over the Bulldogs. Center Joshua Friesen plugged in 19 points while Zach Geske drilled two 3-pointers for a total of 14 as CLS jumped out to a 20-10 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Cary-Grove 40, Woodstock North 23: The Trojans (1-1) picked up their first win of the year at the Hoops for Healing Tourney in Woodstock with a balanced scoring attack against the Thunder. Eight C-G players scored, including Dan Schmidt, who scored a game-high 9 points while Quinn Celske tallied 8 points, including 6 free throws.

St. Charles North 65, Plainfield East 62 (OT): At the St. Charles East Tournament, North Stars (1-0) guard Michael Schroeder made North's first game of the season a memorable one with a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer for an overtime victory over the Bengals.

Elgin 74, Douglass 43: Reggie Cole had 17 points for the Maroons (2-0) at the West Chicago tournament.
