Lakes rolls to victory; Grayslake Nort edges Johnsburg
Jordan Mercure and sophomore Michael Behrendt scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, as Lakes' boys basketball team beat North Chicago's JV 68-27 at Johnsburg in the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton tournament Tuesday night.
Ryan Selig added 11 points for Lakes (1-1, 1-1), and Kyle Rohr chipped in nine.
Grayslake North 45, Johnsburg 44: At Johnsburg, James Connolly (17 points) and Jamal Thomas (15 points) led the Knights (2-0).
Aidan Einloth scored his 1,000th career point for Grayslake North.
Crystal Lake South 65, Wauconda 39: At Richmond-Burton, the Bulldogs received 14 points from Jarod Stonis in the losing effort.
Bryan Nee added 10 points for Wauconda (1-1, 1-1). Both Stonis and Nee hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Round Lake 65, Woodstock North 58: On Monday night, the Panthers won their season opener in tournament action at Woodstock North.
Michael Green led Round Lake with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Zach Kuligoski and Dallas Soto added 14 and 13, respectively, for the Panthers.
Grayslake Central 72, Christian Liberty 35: Jack Beckman scored a game-high 17 points to help the Rams improve to 2-0 in touranment play at Buffalo Grove.
Mark Cabrera led Christian Liberty (0-2) in scoring for the second game in a row with 8 points. Steve Ringstrand and Jesse Castro both had 6.
