Hersey wraps up 9-1 East finish

Hersey's boys basketball team finished off a 9-1 effort against Mid-Suburban East foes with a 57-47 victory over visiting Wheeling on Friday.

Payton Haas led the Huskies with 19 points, Zak Cooper had 14 and Joey Coffaro had 9.

Wheeling was led by 12 points from Nick Janulis and 11 from Ryan Caulfield.

The Huskies will host Barrington in the MSL championship game on Wednesday.

Buffalo Grove 72, Rolling Meadows 61: The Bison completed MSL East action with a victory on their home court.

Prospect 58, Elk Grove 53: Senior guard Kyle Beyak shot the lights out for the host Knights, finishing 5-for-6 from 2-point and range and 4-for-4 from beyond the arc on the way to a game-high 24 points in MSL East play.

Tyler Ingebrigtsen led the way for Elk Grove with 22 points and 6 rebounds, and Dan Hadler had 14 points.

Fremd 51, Hoffman Estates 45: The visiting Vikings held the Hawks to 3 points in the third quarter to finish off their MSL West slate with a victory.

Niles North 75, Maine West 43: Danny Karajic led the host Warriors (7-18, 3-7) with 7 points while teammates Anthony Baxmann, Allen Rathappill and Matt Acevedo each chipped in 6.

Julian Dones had the only 3-pointer for West in the CSL North finale.
