Boys basketball: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, Feb. 17

The wins haven't been many for Streamwood's boys basketball team this season but the Sabres got one Tuesday night, knocking off Elk Grove 56-53 in a nonconference game at Streamwood.

The Sabres (3-24) came back from a 5-point deficit in the fourth quarter to notch the win and snap an eight-game losing streak.

Freshman Phil Cruz led Streamwood with 14 points. Joey O'Halloran had 10 points as Streamwood outscored the Grenaiders 16-8 in the fourth quarter.

Westminster Christian 61, Somonauk 36: Three different Warriors scored in double digits in a lopsided nonconference road win. Dillon Rejman and Sam Carani each poured in 12 points and Robert Kleczynski added 10 for Westminster (19-6).

Burlington Central 71, Harvard 34: The Rockets (11-14, 6-5) won their second-straight rather convincingly behind 13 different scorers, as Stefan Jochum finished with a game-high 13 points in the Big Northern East game. Sean Fitzgerald and Andrew Wiss scored 9 points while Zach Schutta and Joseph Ratzek each tallied 8.

Huntley 47, McHenry 25: The Red Raiders (10-15, 4-4) mounted a Fox Valley Conference Valley win behind great defense and 12 points from freshman Jadrian Flores. Sophomore Alex Coss had 11 and David Cruz also added 9 in Huntley's second-straight win.

Woodstock 54, Hampshire 47: The Whip-Purs (14-10, 4-7) ran out of gas at the end of an FVC Fox loss to the Blue Streaks. Brennen Woods led Hampshire with 13 points while Luke Tuttle added 9 points. Hampshire was without head coach Bob Barnett, who went home from school earlier in the day not feeling well.

U-High 56, CL South 50: Zach Geske and Kyle Bartusch each added 11, but the Gators (14-10) fell short in a nonconference loss at The Swamp.
