Beyak, Mack pace Prospect's victory

Prospect senior Kyle Beyak shot 8-for-10 from 2-point range and 2-for-5 from beyond the arc on his way to a game-high 26 points as the visiting Knights topped Wheeling 75-58 on Friday in Mid-Suburban East boys basketball.

Sophomore guard Frankie Mack shot 5-for-6 from 3-point range and finished with 20 points and a team-best 9 rebounds for the Knights (11-10, 5-4).

Junior forward Dylan Draka paced Wheeling with 14 points.

Prospect, which snapped a two-game skid, finishes up its MSL East slate next Friday at home against Elk Grove, while Wheeling travels for a Friday game at Hersey.

Elk Grove 60, Buffalo Grove 52: Dan Hadler scored in each quarter and finished with a game-high 14 points to help Elk Grove in an MSL East win at BG.

Tyler Ingebrigtsen and Isaiah Curiel both had 10 points and Tyree Howard had 9 as the Grens (16-6, 7-2) remained 1 game behind division leader Hersey. The Huskies have clinched the East's spot in the MSL championship game.

Buffalo Grove rallied with a 20-point fourth quarter. Jack Vaselaney led the Bison with 12 points and Ryan Williams had 8.

Conant 61, Hoffman Estates 47: Senior Danny Sotos scored 16 points to lead the way for host Conant in a 61-47 victory over Hoffman Estates in Mid-Suburban West boys basketball on Friday.

Conant limited the Hawks to 6 points in the third quarter and led 47-32 heading into the fourth.

Jimmy Sotos (12 points) and Danny Sotos both finished with a pair of 3s. Kyle Bradley also scored in double figures for Conant (15-9, 5-4) with 10 points.

Jorden Thornton hit a pair of 3s and finished with a team-best 16 points for Hoffman Estates, and Dante Cleveland contributed 11 points.

Both teams were strong at the foul line, as the Cougars made 19 of 20 shots and the Hawks 14 of 15.

Christian Liberty Academy 62, Roycemore 45: Sam Silva (23 points) and Paul Weiss (17) led the way as the Chargers picked up a decisive victory on the road.

Silva, a sophomore, made four 3s.

Maine West 66, Maine East 64: Senior Marion Johnson's 16-footer with 3.6 seconds left lifted the visiting Warriors (6-16, 2-7) to the Central Suburban North victory in Park Ridge.

The game was tied when West had the ball out of bounds near half court with eight seconds left.

Senior Matt Acevedo inbounded the ball to sophomore Stefan Balaban, who was able to get it back to Acevedo.

Johnson slipped through a screen and Acevedo found this classmate with a pass that set up Johnson's game-winner.

Coach John Bongiorno's Warriors battled back from 10-point deficits twice in the final quarter.

Acevedo collected a season-high 25 points while 5-foot-7 freshman point guard Julian Dones added 16, converting all his field goals from 3-point range.

Johnson finished with 15 points while senior teammate Julian Dunklin chipped in 6.
