Strong Prairie finish for Firnbach, Vernon Hills

Kasey Firnbach had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists, and Vernon Hills' girls basketball team beat Grant 69-47 Friday night to reach the 20-win mark for the fourth season in a row.

Mia Polisky added 13 points and 4 assists for the Cougars (20-6), who completed play in the North Suburban Prairie Division with a 9-3 record. Katie Brettmann contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds, and Haley Lieberman had 7 points and 5 assists. Becky Bahlmann also had 8 points.

"We overcame foul trouble and started playing better defense in the second quarter," Cougars coach Paul Brettner said. "Our defense and rebounding made a big difference."

Grant (10-16, 5-7) was led by Jasmine Sangster's 15 points.

Antioch 57, Lakes 31: Amy Reiser scored a game-high 18 points and collected 10 steals, as the visiting Sequoits notched their school-record 25th win.

Antioch (25-3), which finished with an 11-1 record in the North Suburban Prairie Division, also received a big game from Ashley Reiser, who had 13 points, 7 steals and 5 assists.

Sequoits coach Tim Borries also praised the efforts of Kelly Johnson (7 rebounds) and Maddy Murillo (5 rebounds).

Isabella Quaranta had 9 points for Lakes.

Grayslake North 47, Warren 40: The host Knights cooled off the Blue Devils in their nonconference game.

Maggie Fish scored 14 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Grayslake North (14-13), which also got 12 points from Sidney Lovitsch and 10 from Abbey Stinner.

Warren (10-15), which had its four-game winning streak snapped, was led by Jordyn Hughes' 15 points (two 3-pointers).

Zion-Benton 52, Libertyville 47: Mia Yarbrough poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the visiting Zee-Bees in the North Suburban Lake contest.

Claire Keefe's 18 points led Libertyville (15-10, 7-5), which also got 11 points from Maggie Piazzi and 8 from Becky Deichl.

"Our effort was great," Wildcats coach Greg Pedersen said. "But Zion had just a couple more scoring possessions, and that was the difference."

North Chicago 50, Wauconda 27: The visiting Bulldogs trailed only 7-6 after one quarter but were down 22-14 at halftime and 30-21 after three.

Wauconda (9-13) finished 3-9 in the North Suburban Prairie.
