St. Viator prevails in OT at Joliet Catholic

St. Viator made its trip to Joliet Catholic well worth the drive - eventually.

The Lions were outscored 20-13 in the fourth quarter as the Hilltoppers tied it up to force overtime.

But St. Viator was dominant in the extra session, outscoring Joliet Catholic 12-5 to win 67-60 and pick up a big East Suburban Catholic Conference boys basketball victory.

Senior Sal Canella led St. Viator with 18 points. Kevin Monson had 4 baskets, all 3-pointers, and finished with 15, and Patrick McNamara had 12 points. Ricky Muench made three 3s for the Lions and had 9 points.

Joliet Catholic guard Jalen Jackson hit six 3s and finished with a game-high 25 points.

St. Viator (14-6, 5-1) limited the Hilltoppers to 8 fouls shots, while the Lions made good on 11 of their 15 free throws.
