Vernon Hills solves Antioch

Kasey Firnbach scored 23 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, and Vernon Hills' girls basketball team snapped host Antioch's 21-game winning streak with a 68-43 win in North Suburban Prairie Division play Wednesday night.

Becky Bahlmann (5 rebounds) and Mia Polisky (4 rebounds) added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Vernon Hills (19-6, 8-3), which won its fourth in a row. Haley Lieberman (9 rebounds, 4 assists) and Monica Bahlmann (5 assists, 4 rebounds) contributed 9 points each.

Antioch (24-3, 10-1) received 12 points from Amy Reiser, while Ashley Reiser had 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The Sequoits also got a season-high-tying 8 points from Maddie Murillo.

Firnbach hit 2 of Vernon Hills' eight 3-pointers.

Grayslake North 48, Grayslake Central 26: Maggie Fish led all scorers with 16 points, and the host Knights pulled away in Fox Valley Fox Division action.

Sidney Lovitsch (two 3-pointers) and Brandi Thibeaux added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Grayslake North (13-13, 7-4), which trailed 6-5 after one quarter before outscoring the Rams 19-8 in the second.

Grayslake Central (7-17, 3-7) received 7 points from Lindsay Brust.

Round Lake 62, Alden-Hebron 42: Raven Nicoline scored 12, as the host Panthers captured the nonconference game.

"Probably our most-complete game of the year," coach Howard Conkling said.

Round Lake (7-20) received 11 points apiece from Miya Johnson and Mike Crisantos, while Lesley Diaz contributed 8 points.

Wauconda 44, Carmel 35: Katie Rossetti collected 15 points and 9 rebounds, as the visiting Bulldogs won for the second game in a row.

"We had a nice effort," coach Jaime Dennis said. "Katie Rossetti had a good game for us. Maddie Gaschler hit some nice shots at the beginning of the game to put us ahead, and we maintained that lead the whole game."

Jackie Lung (5 points) was a monster on the boards with 10 rebounds for Wauconda (9-12). Gaschler finished with 8 points.

"The girls are starting to put things together and play more consistently," Dennis said. "We are peaking at the right time. It makes me excited for the postseason."

Carmel received 10 points from Emma Rappe and 8 from Dani DeLozier.

Dundee-Crown 55, Grant 47: Freshman Mallory Harrity scored 9 points to lead the host Bulldogs in their nonconference loss.

Jasmine Sangster had 8 points for Grant (10-15).

Warren 62, Niles North 61: On Tuesday night, Jordyn Hughes scored 17 points, leading the visiting Blue Devils (10-14) to their fourth straight win.

Grant 58, Deerfield 54: On Tuesday night, Jasmine Sangster returned the lineup after missing two games due to illness and scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Bulldogs to their 10th win.

Jordynn Hundley added 12 points for Grant (10-14).

Crystal Lake South 56, Mundelein 53: On Tuesday night, the Mustangs' comeback came up short, despite outscoring the host Gators 27-18 in the fourth quarter.

Mundelein (9-17) trailed 38-26 after three. Madison Davis led the Mustangs with 13 points, while Natalie Busscher (11 points) and Maggie Mahar (10) also scored in double figures.
