Girls basketball: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, Jan. 31

Metea Valley 65, Bartlett 61: Kaitlin Brohan scored 17 points and had 8 rebounds and 5 steals but the Hawks fell out of a first-place tie in the Upstate Eight Valley with this setback. Kelly Harris added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks for Bartlett (16-8, 9-2) and Lauren Janczak had 14 points and 4 assists.

Streamwood 63, St. Ignatius 61 (OT): Kiana Jeremiah and Jenajha Williams led Streamwood (8-16) to an impressive nonconference overtime victory on the road. Down 8 to start the fourth quarter the Sabres fought back, sending it into overtime where Jeremiah went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line and finished with a game-high 25 points. Williams recorded a double-double with a career-high 20 points and 12 rebounds along with 6 blocks. Cayla Hawkins also added 11 points.

Hampshire 70, Westminster Christian 30: Meagan Heine scored 13 points to lead Hampshire (18-5) to a nonconference victory over the visiting Warriors. The Whip-Purs jumped out to a 26-point lead in the first quarter and used eight scorers in a balanced attack including Emma Benoit with 10. She is now 16 points away from 1,000 for her career. Maddie Versluys once again led Westminster (9-15) on offense with a game-high 21. Versluys also broke Stacey Malhman's all-time school scoring record of 1,219 in the second half of the game.

South Elgin 61, West Aurora 34: Holding the Blackhawks to just 16 points at the half, South Elgin (15-9, 8-4) kept pouring on the offense in a UEC Valley victory in Aurora. Taylor Ford nailed four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 14 points while Laura McIntosh finished with 13 points.

Dundee-Crown 66, Hoffman Estates 65: Creighton Fed and Meliss Barker had 14 points each with Lauren Lococo and Kayla Lawrence adding 12 each fort the Chargers (12-14) in a nonconference win. Jesania Laboy added 10 points for D-C.

Aurora Christian 58, Harvest Christian 50: Kylee Knox had 21 points and Paulina Castro added 17 for Harvest Christian (19-6), which lost its second straight.
