Girls basketball: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, Jan. 27

Elgin 63, Cornerstone Christian 35: Scoring over 60 points for the first time this season, the Maroons (4-18) snapped a 2-game losing streak in a nonconference win on the road. Alisha Panthier scored a team-high 12 points with Tiana Stewart adding 9 and Lakiya Harvey netting 8. Elgin had 13 players score at least 1 point in the win.

Westminster Christian 57, Kirkland-Hiawatha 45: A short time off has not slowed down Maddie Versluys as she scored 30 points to help the Warriors (9-13, 5-3) snap an 8-game losing streak with a win in Northeastern Atheltic Conference play. Versluys, who is now 30 points away from tying Stacey Mahlman's school career scoring record, added 6 steals and 3 rebounds while Emma Kovachevich added 12 points.

Harvest Christian 64, Paw Paw 34: Behind big games from Kylee Knox and freshman Ismar Garcia, the Lions (19-4) returned to their winning ways with a nonconference home victory. Knox and Garcia both scored 17 points for the Lions while Paulina Castro finished the night with 11.

Crystal Lake South 45, McHenry 40: A big game from Chanel Fanter gave the Gators (15-6, 7-1) another Fox Valley Conference Valley Division victory with this road win. Fanter was 10-for-14 from the free-throw line and finished with 21 points. Kianna Clark finished with a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Hampshire 45, Grayslake North 33: With 29 combined points, Emma Benoit and Rachel Dumoulin led the way for the Whip-Purs (16-5, 8-1) in FVC Fox Division play on the road. Benoit finished with 18 points while Dumoulin added 11. Peyton DeChant added 8 points for Hampshire.
