Conant tops Deerfield in OT

Victory No. 9 in a row didn't come easily for host Conant.

The Cougars gave up 20 points in the fourth quarter as Deerfield forced an overtime session in nonconference boys basketball Tuesday.

But in the extra session, Conant was the only team to score.

The Cougars' 2 points in OT made the difference as Conant (13-7) edged Deerfield 43-41.

Kyle Bradley led Conant with 12 points, Danny Sotos had 9 and Jimmy Sotos had 8.

Joey Lane scored a game-high 20 points, which included four 3s, for Deerfield.

Conant is back in action in the Mid-Suburban West with a Friday contest at co-leader Barrington.

Prospect 48, Glenbrook North 42: The visiting Knights snapped a three-game skid and climbed back over the break-even mark by picking up a nonconference victory.

Kyle Beyak led the way in scoring with a game-high 15 points for Prospect, and Ernest Kiseliovas contributed 11.

The Knights (9-8) prevailed despite shooting 5-for-22 from 2-point range and 6-for-24 from 3-point range. They offset those struggles with a 20-for-27 performance at the foul line.

Beyak was 5-for-5 and the line and Kiseliovas was 3-for-4; both also made a pair of 3s.

Kyle Formanski and Patrick Szuba each had 6 rebounds for Prospect, which next hosts Rolling Meadows on Friday in Mid-Suburban East play.

Maine East 47, Buffalo Grove 43: The host Blue Demons held the Bison to 6 points in the second quarter on the way to a nonconference win.

Collin Dekorsi scored 12 points to lead Buffalo Grove (5-13), and Hans Haller had 9.
