Reiser sisters lead the way for Antioch

Ashley Reiser and Amy Reiser each scored 10 points, and Antioch's girls basketball team stretched its winning streak to 20 games with a 52-26 win over visiting Round Lake in North Suburban Prairie Division action Saturday night.

Coupled with North Chicago's loss to Lakes on Saturday, Antioch clinched a share of the NSC Prairie title and berth in the conference championship game.

Shannon Zogran led the defensive attack with 6 steals, as Antioch (23-2, 9-0) held Round Lake to only 7 points in the first half. Maddy Murillo and Carly McCameron dominated in the paint with 13 and 10 rebounds, respectively.

Miya Johnson had 9 points for Round Lake (4-16, 0-10).

Lakes 43, North Chicago 40: The Eagles stunned the visiting Warhawks, who were without guard T.T. Maggett.

Lakes (12-11, 5-3) played without a starter of its own in Nicole Denman. The Eagles led the entire way and built a 10-point lead through three quarters.

Ellie Haviland led the hosts with 14 points.

"Ellie played a great game tonight," Lakes coach Pete Schneider said. "She is understanding that it is not only her scoring but her being able to control the tempo and take care of the ball that is just as important. Ellie has been helping shape the team all year with her effort and skills."

Lakes' Izzy Quaranta grabbed 12 rebounds, while Natalie Pawlak (7 points) and Olivia Pawlak (6 points) added 9 and 6 boards, respectively. Natalie Iacopetti chipped in 6 points. Alyssa Brey provided good defense.

"She will get the floor burn award," Schneider said. "What great heart Alyssa shows.

"We have been working on getting 'tougher,' and by that I mean mentally tougher and always working hard," Schneider added. "Tonight that was accomplished. I'm very proud of the kids. North Chicago always plays hard and tonight was no exception."

North Chicago was led by Zyaire Strowder with 15 points and Kylah Collins with 12.

Lake Forest 49, Warren 37: Brooke Green's 24 points, including five 3-pointers, led the host Scouts to the North Suburban Lake Division win.

Grace Torkelson added 9 points and 10 rebounds for Lake Forest (14-10, 5-4), which jumped out to a 16-7 lead after one quarter. Green also had 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.

Grant 58, Wauconda 39: Jasmine Sangster's 21 points led the host Bulldogs to the North Suburban Prairie Division win.

Grant (8-12, 4-5) also received a season-high 10 points from sophomore Keyana Linbo and 8 from Jordynn Hundley.

Wauconda (7-11, 2-7) was led in scoring by Anna Wisniewski with 12 points.

"It was a very disappointing outing," Wauconda coach Jaime Dennis said. "We just don't have anyone that can handle Sangster. She is a quality player and she was the difference in the game."
