Girls basketball: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, Jan. 24

Conant 49, Crystal Lake South 26: A poor start sunk the Gators (14-6) as they could not get their offense going, falling in nonconference action at home. Chanel Fanter scored half of her team's points with a game-high 13.

Batavia 67, Streamwood 45: Despite getting to the free throw line 33 times, the Sabres (7-15, 5-6) hit on just over half and could not come back in an Upstate Eight River loss. Cayla Hawkins and Kiana Jeremiah each scored 15 points while Jenejha Williams finished with 9 for Streamwood.

Luther North 57, Westminster Christian 46: Maddie Versluys' return from illness was spoiled as the Warriors (8-13, 4-3) were down big early and could not complete the comeback in Northeastern Athletic Conference play. Versluys, out for almost 2 weeks, had a double-double her first game back, scoring a game-high 27 points and adding 10 rebounds.

South Elgin 49, East Aurora 35: Holding the Tomcats to just 10 points in the first half, the Storm (13-8, 6-3) built a sizable lead early and cruised to an easy UEC Valley victory. Mackenzie Kelleher scored a game-high 13 points while teammate Laura McIntosh finished with 9.

St. Charles North 68, Elgin 15: On senior night the Maroons (3-18, 0-9) could not get their offense going in a UEC River loss. Senior Abby Pierre-Louis led the way on offense with 5 points.

Burlington Central 56, Genoa-Kingston 23: Led by Sam Pryor, the Rockets (17-3, 8-0) continued their run of dominance in the Big Northern East with a big win on the road. Pryor finished the night with 14 points and gave BC its 32nd consecutive BNC East win. Kayla Ross added 8 points for the Rockets.
