Girls basketball: Fox Valley roundup Friday, Jan. 23

Harvest Christian 60, Christian Liberty 28: The streak goes on for the Lions (18-3, 6-0) as they continue their dominance in the Northeastern Athletic Conference, pushing their winning streak to 11 games and setting a new school record for wins with another road victory. Paulina Castro (16 points, 6 steals) and Kylee Knox (13 points, 7 assists) once again led the way on offense for Harvest Christian.

Dundee-Crown 37, Thornwood 34: Trailing by one at the half, the Chargers (11-13) took the lead in the third quarter and held on in the fourth to win in a nonconference game. D-C has now won back-to-back games for the first time since before Christmas. Creighton Fed led the offense with 13 points while Lauren Lococo followed with 10.

South Elgin 46, Waubonsie Valley 34: Behind a big night from Bridgette Williams, the Storm (12-8, 5-3) had an 11-point lead at the half and won comfortably in Upstate Eight Valley play on the road. With 8 different players scoring at least once there was plenty of offense to go around, but Williams led the way with 14 points.

Burlington Central 50, Rockford Christian 41: After leading by 14 in the third quarter the Rockets (16-3, 7-0) pushed back a furious fourth quarter run from the Royal Lions, holding on to stay perfect in Big Northern East action with their 31st straight division win. Sam Pryor led the Rockets with 14 points while Kayla Ross added 10 to the winning effort.

St. Charles North 70, Streamwood 40: Streamwood scored the first basket of the game but never led again, getting as close as 6 points before trailing by 13 at the half in this Upstate Eight River loss. Cayla Hawkins led the Sabres (7-14, 5-5) with 14 points while teammate Jenejha Williams finished with 10.

Hampshire 49, Crystal Lake Central 29: Holding the Tigers to just 8 second half points, the Whip-Purs (15-5, 7-1) never trailed and picked up a Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win. Emma Benoit poured in 14 points and Rachel Dumoulin added 10 as the Whips scored over 40 points for just the second time in their last six games.
