Prospect handles Highland Park

Prospect's girls basketball team rebounded from its only loss of the season in fine fashion on Thursday night at Highland Park.

Just two days after falling to the Class 4A No. 3 ranked team Fremd, the No. 8-ranked Knights captured a 59-27 decision over the Giants.

Senior Catherine Sherwood and junior Nikki Matters (two 3-pointers) each scored 12 points to pace the Knights, who improved to 14-1 heading into Saturday's Mid-Suburban East matinee against Rolling Meadows at the Jean Walker Field House in Mt. Prospect.

Clare O'Carroll chipped in 8 points and Taylor Will 7 for Prospect. Senior teammate Katie Olson also had a 3-pointer.

Knights sophomore point guard Haley Will missed her second straight game due to illness.

"I was really proud of all 12 girls and their efforts," said Prospect coach Ashley Graham, whose team is 3-0 in the MSL East. "It was definitely a good win for us to get back doing what we do and going in on a positive note for Saturday's game."

Rolling Meadows will go into the game with a 13-4 record (1-2 in the MSL East) after topping Hoffman Estates 56-43 on Thursday.

• St. Viator's game at DePaul College Prep in Chicago was postponed due to the weather on Thursday and will be rescheduled at a later date.
