Geneva rolls behind Novak's 22 points

Geneva had the unenviable task of playing the 8 o'clock game the morning after a major holiday.

"It was not the best, but there are worse things," said Geneva guard-forward Abby Novak.

The senior led both teams with 22 points to propel the Vikings to a 57-35 victory over St. Joseph.

The 22-point win extended the Vikings' season-long winning streak to 11 games.

Geneva (11-0) will meet Benet, which is undefeated after 14 games, after its convincing 72-35 win over Zion-Benton.

"The (Geneva) girls were giving me the ball at the free-throw line, and I was shooting," Novak said. "Rebounding for the whole team was critical."

"It should be a great game (with Benet)," Novak said. "They have a few key girls; we have a whole team that will be ready."
