Boys basketball: Week 4 MVP

St. Charles North senior guard Jake Ludwig has earned Daily Herald boys basketball MVP honors for his performances in a pair of recent victories.

Jake Ludwig, St. Charles North: The 6-foot-1 senior guard scored 47 points in two Upstate Eight Conference River Division wins that sent the North Stars over .500. Ludwig's 17 first-half points in a 60-46 win over West Chicago helped him match his career high of 28 points. He followed with 19 points in a 59-46 victory over Larkin.

C.J. Duff, Carmel Catholic: A returning starter, the junior committed to Western Illinois before the season and his stock might be rising. After scoring a career-high 30 points against Joliet Catholic, he followed up with 31 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in a win over Grant.

Rapolas Ivanauskas, Barrington: The 6-foot-9 junior was a force in a pair of big victories for the Broncos. In a first-place Mid-Suburban West showdown against Fremd, Ivanauskas led all scorers with 24 points and went 8-for-8 at the free throw line in a 65-57 Barrington win. He followed up with a 22-point effort in a victory over South Elgin in the first round of Jacobs tournament play, which included another 8-for-8 effort at the foul line along with a pair of 3s and 5 rebounds.

Christian Negron, Larkin: This 6-foot-6 sophomore with two Division I offers finished with 15 points and 4 rebounds in a 71-58 win over Batavia last Tuesday, but he was challenged by Larkin coach Deryn Carter to provide more offense after being limited to 6 points in a loss at St. Charles North. He responded the following day with 18 points, including three 3-pointers, to go with 13 rebounds and 3 steals to lead the Royals to a 58-48 victory over Prairie Ridge at the Hinkle Holiday Classic.

Connor Raridon, Neuqua Valley: The 6-foot-4 senior guard paced Wildcats wins over an Upstate Eight Valley Division favorite and their top rival. His game-high 20 points led a 52-47 win over West Aurora, and his 13 points led a 50-35 win at Waubonsie Valley. Raridon grabbed 14 rebounds and made 10 of 11 free throws.
