Girls basketball: Fox Valley roundup Friday, Dec. 19

CL South 58, Round Lake 26: Chanel Fanter had 16 points and 5 rebounds and Hailee Massie scored 8 points with 8 rebounds as the Gators (9-2) won their sixth straight in the opening round of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic. Annika Sevcik contributed 8 points to the win for Crystal Lake South.

Hampshire 43, Cary-Grove 31: Emma Benoit scored 20 points and Rachel Dumoulin added 10 to lead the Whip-Purs to a Fox Valley Conference crossover win, their fifth straight. Peyton DeChant added 9 points for Hampshire (8-2). Katie Barker had 12 points for Cary-Grove (5-7). Katie Sowa added 8.

St. Edward 40, IC Catholic 36: Cece Rapp hit for 19 points and Madelyn Spagnola added 10 as the Green Wave (9-2, 3-2) won in the Metro Suburban West.

Harvest Christian 61, Rockford Christian Life 44: Kylee Knox erupted for 32 points to lead the Lions (8-3, 4-0) to a Northeast Athletic Conference win. Paulina Castro added 14 points for Harvest.

Walther Christian 56, Westminster Christian 44: Maddie Versluys scored 26 points and added 10 rebounds and 9 steals but the Warriors (6-4) saw their six-game winning streak snapped in this nonconference game. Versluys now has 990 career points. Emma Kovachevich added 10 points for Westminster.
