Hadler helps Elk Grove edge Buffalo Grove

Dan Hadler finished with a game-high 21 points to help Elk Grove improve to 2-1 in Mid-Suburban East boys basketball after a 54-50 victory over visiting Buffalo Grove on Friday.

Buffalo Grove led by 1 point entering the fourth quarter before being outscored 16-11.

Senior Depin Patel finished with 9 points, all on 3-pointers, for the Grenadiers.

Collin Calcagno paced the Bison with 15 points and Colin Dekorski finished with 13.

Elk Grove coach Steve Messer said it was, "a tight-fought game all the way through," adding Elk Grove was able to hold off the Bison late in the game with sound defense and free throw shooting.

Deerfield 54, Maine West 29: Senior guard Matt Acevedo led the host Warriors with 10 points, but Deerfield limited Maine West to 2 first-quarter point on the way to a Central Suburban North victory.

Christian Liberty 55, Faith Lutheran 44: Paul Weiss scored a game-best 18 points and Sam Silva had 12 to help the Chargers past Faith Lutheran.

Silva made a pair of 3s for the Chargers, who held Faith to single-digit scoring in both of the first two quarters.

Saint Viator 78, Nazareth 37: The Lions cruised in the East Suburban Catholic contest.
