Girls basketball: Lake County roundup

Stevenson's girls basketball team keeps winning.

Taylor Buford scored a game-high 21 points, and the Patriots defeated visiting Zion-Benton 56-45 Tuesday night to improve to 10-0 and 4-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division.

Sophia Way (two 3-pointers) and Ashley Richardson added 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Stevenson. The Patriots jumped out to a 16-9 lead after one quarter, led 29-19 at halftime and were ahead 40-32 after three.

Vernon Hills 48, Wauconda 30: Kasey Firnbach had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists for the Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Becky Bahlmann added 9 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists for Vernon Hills (9-3, 3-2). The Cougars also received 6 points and 5 rebounds from Danielle Comitor.

Wauconda (3-3, 1-3) got 9 points apiece from Paige Motley and Katie Rossetti.
