Welter, Callahan pace another Buffalo Grove win

The best start for the Buffalo Grove's girls basketball team in more than five years continued on Tuesday night when the Bison improved to 9-1 with a 63-46 nonconference win over visiting Cary-Grove.

For the second straight night, senior Maddy Callahan had four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. Junior guard Maddie Welter added three 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 17 points.

Also reaching double figures for the Bison was junior Sammy Stejskal with 10 points.

Bri Kolbus and Georgette Topalis also connected from long range for the winners, who host Elk Grove on Friday night.

Katie Barker and Candace Cunningham scored 14 points each for the Trojans (5-6) in their nonconference loss. Madison Priester added 9 points for Cary-Grove.

Rolling Meadows 57, Wheaton North 30: Junior Hannah Mickey had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Rolling Meadows (8-2) while sophomore teammate Kyra Spiwak scored a game-high 19 points with 2 assists.

Katherine Nolan collected 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Mustangs. Megan King chipped in 6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Evanston 58, Maine West 40: Junior Kayla Pociewjeski led the Warriors (4-6) in the Central Suburban League crossover game with 11 points and 5 rebounds while freshman Catherine Johnson added 8 points in Des Plaines.

Hoffman Estates 53, Jacobs 38: Hoffman Estates (2-7) won the nonconference game in Algonquin.
