Steady Stevenson handles Lake Zurich
Stevenson's scoring couldn't get much more balanced Saturday night.
The Patriots' girls basketball team improved to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division, as four players notched 10 points in a 59-42 win over host Lake Zurich.
Ashley Richardson, Janine Fajardo, Taylor Buford and Sophia Way each scored 10 points for Stevenson, while Kiana Cencula added 8 points.
Lake Zurich (4-5, 2-2) received a game-high 23 points from Abby Pirron. Rachel Kuehr scored 8 points for the Bears.
Libertyville 61, Highland Park 33: Claire Keefe netted a game-best 16 points, Becky Deichl added 12 and Riley Weis chipped in 10 for the visiting Wildcats in their nonconference win.
It was the fourth win in a row for Libertyville (7-3), which also got a season-high 9 points from Maggie Piazzi. Nine players scored for the Wildcats.
Rolling Meadows 42, Vernon Hills 33: The host Cougars suffered their third loss in five games, despite Kasey Firnbach's 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Becky Bahlmann scored 8 points for Vernon Hills (8-3). Haley Lieberman contributed 3 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in what coach Paul Brettner called a "stellar defensive effort."
Carmel 46, Glenbrook North 33: Emma Rappe scored 11 points, as the host Corsairs won the nonconference game for their second straight win.
Alexa Amato added 10 points for Carmel (3-6).
