Johnson, Antioch still unbeaten in NSC Prairie

Kelly Johnson scored a game-high 17 points, and Antioch's girls basketball team stayed hot Friday night, cruising to a 63-30 win over host Round Lake.

Sophomore Erika Gallimore added a career-high 13 points and 8 rebounds for Antioch, which improved to 9-2 and 4-0 in the North Suburban Prairie Division with its sixth win in a row. The Sequoits' Amy Reiser added 11 points and 7 steals, while Ashley Reiser finished with 9 points and 6 assists.

Round Lake (3-6, 0-5) was led by Miya Johnson's 10 points. The Panthers trailed 20-6 after one quarter and 37-9 at halftime.

North Chicago 64, Lakes 40: The visiting Eagles had no answer for the physical play of the Warhawks in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

"Give all the credit to North Chicago," Lakes coach Pete Schneider said. "They outplayed us at every level in this game. They were in better shape, shot the ball better, had fewer turnovers ... pretty much everything."

Ellie Haviland scored 15 points for Lakes.

North Chicago had four players in double figures. Ladella Maggett led the way with 19 points. Kylah Collins had 15, Zaire Strowder added 12 and Tiara Garrett tallied 11.

"We are a bunch of nice kids but have not showed that we have five kids that can play hard for four quarters," Schneider said. "We will look for answers to the 25-plus unforced turnovers and our inability to rebound, as it has to be fixed. We will not win games giving up 60-plus points."

Lake Forest 53, Warren 48: Grace Torkelson had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Brooke Green also scored 14 points, as the Scouts won the North Suburban Lake contest.

Lake Forest improved to 6-4 and 2-2 in the NSC Lake. Warren fell to 1-7 and 1-3 in the division.
