Girls basketball: Lake County roundup

Sidney Lovitsch's sophomore basketball season continues to get better.

Grayslake North's 5-foot-7 guard scored a career-high 26 points Thursday night, as the visiting Knights snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating Woodstock 57-46 in a Fox Valley Fox Division contest.

Lovitsch, who played on varsity last season, hit 11 field goals, including a 3-pointer. Grayslake North (3-6, 1-2) also received 8 points from freshman guard Brandi Thibeaux and 7 from senior guard Maggie Fish.

Vernon Hills 50, Grayslake Central 35: The host Cougars placed three scorers in double figures in their nonconference win.

Becky Bahlmann had 12 points (two 3-pointers) and 5 rebounds for Vernon Hills (8-2), while Haley Lieberman contributed 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. The Cougars also received 11 points from Kasey Firnbach and 9 from Dana Meline.

Juliana Frusolone's 9 points paced Grayslake Central (2-8).
