Rolling Meadows runs by Elk Grove

Rolling Meadows junior guard Megan King put on a 3-point shooting clinic in the first half as the Mustangs began defense of their Mid-Suburban League East championship with a 65-49 victory at Elk Grove Friday.

King's game-high 21 points all came from seven 3-point baskets in the first half as Meadows improved to 6-1 overall.

"I thought our kids were ready to play and fulfilled their roles," said Meadows coach Ryan Kirkorsky. "And Megan King knocked down big shots for us."

Sophomore guard Kyra Spiwak added 13 points (11 in the second half) for the Mustangs while sophomore center Katherine Nolan added 9 and sophomore forward Morgan Campagna 7.

Senior center Ambers Lindfors led Elk Grove (2-5) with 14 points. Taylor Matos added 8 for the Grens and Alex Masnica 7.

Sophomore Laura O'Connell led Schaumburg (2-5) with 10 points.

Barrington 55, Hoffman Estates 41: Junior Abigail Elo (12 points), junior Megan Talbot (9 points, 9 rebounds), senior Tamara Zivak (9 points, 7 rebounds) and junior Auri Grayson (9) were top scorers for the visiting Fillies (3-4) in their MSL West opener.

"We are still making mistakes but we are coming along," said Barrington coach Babbi Barreiro. "We are inexperienced in some key positions.

"But it's nice to get a win. I thought both teams played real hard and I was happy with the job Abigail Elo (4-of-5) did at the free throw line."

Conant 49, Schaumburg 29: Nireet Dhillon (11 points), Haley Anderson (10) and Katie Lomas (8) led visiting Conant (5-1) to the MSL West opening victory.
