Ryan Fitzgerald exploded for 37 points Tuesday night to lead the Burlington Central boys basketball team to a 71-41 rout of Byron in a Big Northern Conference crossover at Central.

Fitzgerald made 17 field goals in the game as the Rockets improved to 4-1 on the season.

Eight other Rockets had at least 2 points, including Andrew Wiss who had 9, including two 3-pointers.

Jacobs 36, Warren 28: Defense was the key in this nonconference win, as the Golden Eagles (3-2) surrendered just 4 points in each of the first and second quarters while jumping out to a 16-4 lead. Only 4 players for Jacobs scored while three registered in double figures. Chrishawn Orange led the way with 12 points. Cameron Krutwig added 11 and Cory Boeckh chipped in 10 for Jacobs.
