Girls basketball: Lake County roundup

Kasey Firnbach scored 16 points, and Haley Lieberman added 11, as Vernon Hills' girls basketball team opened North Suburban Prairie Division action with a 63-34 win over host Lakes on Tuesday night.

Dana Meline chipped in 8 points for the Cougars.

Lakes received 8 points from Natalie Iacopetti.

Wauconda 53, Crystal Lake Central 8: Playing just their second game of the season, the Bulldogs led 7-0 after one quarter and 18-0 at halftime.

Wauconda (2-0) was led in scoring by Jackie Lung and Katie Rosetti with 8 points apiece. Amber Head and Natalie Harding contributed 7 points each.

Antioch 41, North Chicago 32: Carly McCameron scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Sequoits in their North Suburban Prairie opener.

Alexis Duehr scored all 8 of her points on 8-of-8 shooting from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Antioch (5-2) led only 21-20 after three.

Amy Reiser had 9 points and 10 rebounds for the Sequoits, while also forcing 7 turnovers.
