Stevenson stays perfect, tops WW South

Taylor Buford's 11 points led a balanced attacked, and Stevenson's girls basketball team remained undefeated with a 67-34 win over Wheaton Warrenville South at Schaumburg on Tuesday night.

Janine Fajardo and Sophia Way added 9 points apiece for the Patriots, who led 16-2 after one quarter and 37-6 at halftime. All 12 players on the Stevenson roster saw action in the opening half.

Stevenson (4-0, 4-0) will play St. Charles East (4-0) for the tournament championship at 10 a.m. Friday.

Libertyville 48, Westinghouse 38: At Hersey, sophomore guard Riley Weis scored a game-high 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, as the Wildcats bounced back from a loss to improve to 2-1.

Becky Deichl and sophomore Carol Frea added 10 and 9 points, respectively, for Libertyville.

"We're glad to get the win and move into the winner's bracket," Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen said. "Our players are excited for the challenge."

Fenwick 71, Antioch 69: At Niles North, the Sequoits failed to hold a 49-42 lead after three quarters and suffered their first loss of the season.

Ashley and Amy Reiser each set a career high by scoring 25 points apiece to lead Antioch (3-1).

"It was a fast-paced, well-played game from the tip," said coach Tim Borries, whose Sequoits led the entire way until the final minute of the game.

Amy Reiser started the game with a shooting clinic, draining 3-pointers on Antioch's first two possessions. The sophomore racked up her first double-double of the season by also grabbing 12 boards. Ashley Reiser also picked up her first double-double, as she dished out 10 assists. Carly McCameron played hard in the paint, Borries said, as she picked up 7 rebounds to go with her 13 points.

"It was a very exciting game to watch down," Borries said, "right down to the last buzzer."

Fremd 65, Lake Zurich 28: At Lake Zurich, Duke-bound Haley Gorecki scored 21 points, as the Vikings improved to 4-0 in the Turkey Thriller tournament.

Lake Zurich (2-2) received 10 points from Frankie Nasca and 8 from Elly Daleske.
