Tri-Cities boys basketball roundup

St. Francis scored 25 fourth-quarter points to beat Kaneland 50-44 at Batavia's Ken Peddy Windmill City Classic on Tuesday.

St. Francis (1-0) rallied from a 31-25 deficit after three quarters behind 3-point baskets from Jason Sullivan, Daniel Malek and Gabe Johnson and 8-of-11 fourth-quarter foul shooting.

Dylan Vaca hit 3 three-pointers and scored 15 points and forward Ryan David scored 12 points for Kaneland (1-1). Connor Fedderly added 7 for the Knights.

"They had a lot of wide-open shots," said Kaneland coach Brian Johnson. "It's a young season, so we have to get better on defense, know what our defensive principles are."

Johnson led St. Francis with 18 points. Sullivan scored 17.

Niles North 61, Marmion 46:

At Buffalo Grove's Bison Classic, Niles North's Abby George paced an 8-0 run late in the third quarter to take the lead from Marmion. George's game-high 16 points helped Niles North move to 2-0.

Marmion (1-1) led by a point at halftime, 25-24, and 37-34 before George hit a pair of 3-point baskets and a layup to enter the fourth quarter with a 5-point Niles North lead.

Hunter Weber led Marmion with 15 points. Jordan Glasgow scored 12 points and Jake Esp added 10.
