Aurora Central Catholic's girls basketball team opened its season Tuesday night at the Tim Hume Breakout Tournament in Somonauk with a 54-28 win over Serena.
The Chargers opened on a 9-0 run and never looked back. Aurora Central (1-0) held Serena to 7 baskets in the game.
The Chargers were led by seniors Kalie Soris and Gabi Alfaro with 12 and 10 points, respectively, in a game where the entire Chargers squad logged major minutes.
The Chargers continue play in the tournament against Sandwich Wednesday in Somonauk.
Aurora Christian 66, Reed Custer 43: Burney Wilkie won his first game as Aurora Christian head coach Tuesday at the IMSA-Aurora Christian Hoops Happening Tournament.
Gabby Galbato led the way for the Lady Eagles with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Sami Hultine scored 13 and had 5 assists and Kirsten Madsen had 12 points and 5 assists.
Rosary 51, IMSA 22: Krystal Cortes and Danielle Goering led the Royals with 7 points each in their season-opening win Tuesday at the IMSA-Aurora Christian Hoops Happening Tournament.
