Scouting Bartlett: York vs. Morton

Class 4A Bartlett sectional semifinal

No. 1 York (25-5) vs. No. 4 Morton (21-5)

When: 7 p.m. Tuesday

Outlook: Two weeks ago Morton beat the Dukes 81-57 in a West Suburban Conference crossover between the second-place teams from each division. What to draw from the drubbing? For one thing Morton's not the best team to be facing right now. The Mustangs are riding a 12-game winning streak behind Greg Carter, who scored 32 points in that meeting, Weisner Perez and Jarvis Cannon. The Dukes must defend the perimeter better after surrendering 14 3-pointers that night. Last week York fended off a three-game losing streak to win its second straight regional title. While the focus for opposing defenses remains on 6-foot-8 Air Force-bound York center Frank Toohey, who scored 36 points in the two regional wins, the Dukes need contributions from Stanley Roberts, Charlie Rose and Jayvon Thomas. All three hit double-digit scoring in their fourth win over Lyons Twp. on Friday. A win over Morton pushes York a step closer to the program's first sectional title since 1982. Morton hasn't won one since 1961.

Advancement: The winner advances to play Wednesday's winner between No. 2 Proviso East (23-6) and No. 6 Glenbard North (22-5) in Friday's sectional final.
