Burlington Central's Pryor second team all-state

Burlington Central sophomore forward Samantha Pryor has been selected second team all-state for Class 3A girls basketball by the Associated Press.

The 6-foot Pryor, who helped lead the Rockets to a 27-4 season that continues Friday at 12:15 p.m. against Montini in the state semifinals at Redbird Arena in Normal, was the only sophomore voted onto the Top 10 list by a statewide panel of sports writers and broadcasters.

She averages 14.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and has made 55 3-pointers for the Rockets, who will play in an IHSA state final basketball tournament for the first time in school history.

They will face a Montini team that includes senior guard Kateri Stone, the top vote-getter on the all-state first team. Stone was joined on the first team by Khadaizha Sanders of Bishop McNamara, Kristen Gengenbacher of Quincy Notre Dame, Jasmine Lumpkin of Joliet Catholic and Olivia Elger of Peoria Richwoods.

Joining Pryor on the second team were Mary Beth Hugenberg of Quincy Notre Dame, Sydney Smith of Vernon Hills, McKena Miller of Carbondale and Morgan Dahlstrom of Grayslake Central.

In Class 4A, 6-5 Whitney Young senior Khaalia Hillsman was the top vote-getter and was joined on the first team by Jackie Kemph of Rolling Meadows, Kortney Dunbar of Edwardsville, Haley Gorecki of Fremd and Meghan Waldron of Wheaton Warrenville South.

The Class 4A second team consisted of Ashton Millender and Teniya Page of Marian Catholic, Liza Fruendt of Batavia, Aysyia Bugg of Bolingbrook and Chrissy Baird of Wheaton North.

Huntley sophomore Ali Andrews was named Class 4A honorable mention.
